THE WESTWOOD TROLL.
Based on the story, multi-sensory ideas to extend play and learning.
Make a collage of the Minster, Black Mill, Trees, Bushes, Flowers, Cows, People, Rabbit, Squirrel and Troll.
Junk modelling, make a cardboard Black Mill or a red car. Draw a Troll picture.
A feature of the Troll is his big feet do some footprint painting, plus a measuring activity, who has the biggest feet?
Create a scene from the story, the picnic or kite flying.
Pretend play, make a den or cave and play Trolls, make a collection of Trolls.
Playdough, use a gingerbread man cutter, add hair and big ears.
Make biscuits or buns and decorate with a “Troll face”.
Colour a picture, make a paper plate Troll or a mask.
Add berries at snack time, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries.
Talk about keeping quiet, do a listening walk, tiptoeing, running, climbing, listen for different sounds in the environment.
Collect things, cones, leaves, twigs, pebbles etc. do tree bark rubbings. Do leaf painting/printing. Make a display of natural resources.
Have a picnic, fly a kite or play ball games.
